Day 4 - 5

Swakopmund

You continue your journey through the fascinating desert landscape to Swakopmund. This multicultural town, situated on the Namibian South Atlantic coast, gained historical significance during the German colonial administration and served as an important harbour for immigrants from Germany. Stroll through the small town and discover relics from the colonial era, such as German street names and cafés. There are numerous excursion options in and around Swakopmund. Take a boat trip to Walvis Bay, about 30 kilometres south along the Atlantic coast, and with a bit of luck spot seals and dolphins. Paddle a kayak in a lagoon on the southern edge of the town and marvel at the diverse birdlife. Sandboarding on the dunes is available for those who prefer something a little more adrenaline-fuelled. And for the more adventurous travellers, there is the option of going to dizzying heights and experiencing Swakopmund from a bird's eye view with a parachute jump
