Luxury Safari: Victoria Falls to Okavango Delta
Botswana and Zimbabwe safari | Duration: from 9 days
Waterfalls, savannahs & sunsets
Itinerary
Welcome to the Victoria Falls
Your journey takes you right into the heart of the beautiful nature of the African continent. You land at Victoria Falls Airport in Zimbabwe. Here you will be met by a personal tour guide who will accompany you on your journey to your camp and give you a first introduction to the area. You may already be able to see the smoke - the rising spray of the Victoria Falls. This smoke is the reason for the name given by the Kololo tribe to the falls, which are over 100 metres deep: Mosi-oa-Tunya: Thundering Smoke.
Victoria Falls and Wildlife Trust
A visit to Victoria Falls is scheduled for early this morning. You can explore them individually or with a private guide. Alternatively, a visit to the Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust is also recommended. Here you will learn more about the wild animals of the region and the efforts of the local species and nature conservation organisation to protect them and promote harmonious coexistence between humans and animals. The centre regularly has wild animals that are cared for and nursed back to health before they are released back into the wild - who knows which visitor is waiting for you. End the evening with a picnic and cocktails by the river and marvel at the beauty of the African sunset.
Surfing lions and safari at sunset
After breakfast, you will set off for Victoria Falls Airport again today. You will be flown across the border to Botswana in a small "bush-hopper" aircraft - destination: Kasane airport. Once you have completed all the immigration formalities, the journey continues by bush-hopper to the Linyanti Game Reserve. The diverse habitats of the reserve in particular make a stay here incomparable - forests, swamps with waterways and grassy plains offer a refuge for many different animals. The region is home to many big cats, which hunt hippos here particularly frequently and have therefore been given the name Surfing Lions. Enjoy the wilderness on the morning and evening game drives.
Mokoro trip across the Okavango Delta
The journey continues through the air again. Today you will fly towards the famous Okavango Delta on the familiar Bush-hopper. This is exactly where your accommodation for the next two nights is located. Instead of travelling by jeep, you will mainly be on the water in mokoros - traditional canoes - and experience the bush from a completely different perspective
Moremi Nationalpark
The last stop on your journey is Moremi National Park, known for its abundance of wildlife. Enjoy excellent animal sightings on game drives through this beautiful national park. You can also explore the park on a guided walk. Afterwards, round off the day with a glass of wine and watch the glowing red sun disappear behind the horizon one last time before travelling home the next day.
Farewell
Today it's time to say goodbye. A final flight with the bush hopper takes you to Maun airport, from where you start your journey home. You will take with you the impressions of over a week of wilderness and adventure. Remember good food under the stars, the roar of the lions at night, the herds of elephants and a feeling of freedom that only the vast savannah can give you.
